2018 Toyota Highlander vs 2017 Honda Pilot near West Islip, NY

There are many great crossover SUVs on the market, with two of the most popular being the 2018 Toyota Highlander and 2017 Honda Pilot. The Highlander is a favorite for families due to its exceptionally comfortable interior, and the exceptional safety and security features. There are many family-friendly features, including great entertainment technology. Competing against the 2018 Toyota Highlander is the 2017 Honda Pilot, which has received limited updates for the new year, most notably with increased smartphone compatibility coming to Pilot models equipped with the 8-inch touchscreen. If you are curious to learn more about these two great crossover SUVs continue reading below!

2018 Toyota Highlander Power & Handling

Customers can choose between three fantastic powertrain options, starting with the 2.7-liter inline-4 that has 185 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. It is linked to a six-speed automatic transmission and a front-wheel drive system. The fantastic 3.5-liter V6 engine is a great option, and it delivers 295 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque. It is available with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive and delivers a capable and confident performance during every drive. Toyota also offers an amazing Hybrid powertrain as an option with their Highlander.

2017 Honda Pilot Power & Handling

Honda offers only one engine with their Pilot, which is a 3.5-liter V6 that has 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. It is linked to a six-speed automatic transmission with most of the Pilot's trims, but on the Touring and Elite trims, the Pilot has a nine-speed automatic transmission. The Honda Pilot is equipped with a front-wheel drive system as the standard configuration, but Honda alternatively offers an amazing all-wheel drive system as an option.

2018 Toyota Highlander Features & Design

Toyota has worked hard to equip their Highlander with the latest technology, ensuring a safe and exciting experience during every drive. The base Highlander LE is equipped with the fantastic Toyota Safety Sense Plus system, which has automatic high beams, active cruise control, lane-departure alert and warning, and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection. The Highlander LE also has a rearview camera, a 6.1-inch touch-screen display with the Toyota Entune audio system, voice recognition, and Bluetooth. Some of the great features offered on higher models include a heated steering wheel, heated/ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof.

2017 Honda Pilot Features & Design

The Honda Pilot is available in a few different trim levels, but the base LX trim is modestly equipped. It has some safety features including a tire-pressure-monitoring system and a multi-angle rearview camera. It has a 4.2-inch infotainment screen as well as Bluetooth and cruise control. There are audio and phone controls located on the Pilot's steering wheel, and the vehicle has push-button start. The base trim level is rather underwhelming, and we recommend upgrading to the Pilot EX trim which has Intelligent Traction Management, and LaneWatch right-side-view camera.
