Trim Levels (Exterior)

The RAV4 comes in six different trim levels this year, and they start with the LE. This base trim comes with a 17-inch steel wheels and rear privacy glass, while a step up to the XLE adds alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, and fog lights. The new Adventure trim is next in the lineup and comes with a 18-inch black alloy wheels, fender flares, and a windshield wiper de-icer. The SE is the sporty model and has LED daytime running lights, 18-inch silver wheels, and LED headlights and taillights. </br></br> The two top levels start with the Limited with chrome exterior trim and a power liftgate. The Platinum sits at the top with a hands-free liftgate, upgraded exterior trim, and some extra tech and safety features.

Engine (Power)

All the RAV4 models come with the same 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. This produces 176 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque, and it comes paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Front wheel drive comes standard, but you can opt for all-wheel drive. There is also a hybrid powertrain available for the RAV4 which combines the same gas engine with two electric motors. This version comes with a continuously variable transmission and all-wheel drive.

Performance

This SUV has a good amount of power and quick acceleration. It is one of the more fuel-efficient vehicles in its class with an EPA rating of 23 miles per gallon in the city and 29 mpg on the highway with the front-wheel drive. Passengers will enjoy the smooth ride in the RAV4, and the models with the extra ground clearance can handle some rougher terrain.

Interior

The RAV4 has two rows of seats and room for up to five passengers. There are 38.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, and if you fold them down, the storage space opens up to over 73 cubic feet. All the models have a 6.1-inch touch screen and the Entune infotainment system with Bluetooth, USB ports, and an auxiliary jack. The higher trims add satellite radio, and there is an option for voice recognition, an upgraded stereo system, and navigation. </br></br> Choose one of the higher trims for Toyota's SofTex simulated leather material on the seats, and get a power adjustable driver's seat with lumbar adjustment.

Safety Features

All the RAV4 models come with a rearview camera and the Safety Sense-P safety systems. This includes a pre-collision system with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, a lane departure warning system with lane keep assist, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Depending on the trim, you can also add both front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. There is also an available 360-degree bird's eye view camera system.
