After an absence of more than 20 years, the Toyota Supra returns with the all-new 2020 GR Supra. The heritage of this marque is carried forward by the new model, which offers a blend of style, performance, and driving pleasure. The GR Supra is offered in 3.0 and 3.0 Premium trim levels, along with the Launch Edition, which is limited to 1,500 cars. Here are four of the features that make it a classic in the making.

  1. Exterior Design

Pure performance is expressed by the Supra’s evocative teardrop design. Every panel has been created with dynamic airflow in mind. The wide, low grille channels cooling air to the engine. Airflow at the rear is improved by the bulging fenders, while the flared rear spoiler keeps the 19-inch forged aluminum wheels firmly on the ground.

The uniquely styled dual bulge roof works to reduce drag while increasing the interior headroom. The distinctive appearance is enhanced by six-lens LED headlights, LED daytime running lights and turn signals, and LED combination taillights.

  1. Power and Performance

Powering the Supra is a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder twin-scroll turbocharged engine delivering 335 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque. Power is transferred to the rear wheels by an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The Supra can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds on the way to its electronically controlled top speed of 155 mph.

Enhanced performance is enabled by the rigid chassis design, an active sport differential, adaptive variable suspension, and four-piston Brembo ventilated disc brakes. Activating sport driving mode gives more weight to the steering and slicker gear shifts and sharpens throttle response, as well as reducing the input of the traction and stability control systems to put the driver fully in control.

  1. Interior Styling

In the driver-focused cockpit, the 14-way power-adjustable sports driver’s seat will hold you in place, even under extreme cornering. The 3.0 features leather-trimmed simulated suede seating. When you’re behind the leather-wrapped steering wheel with its paddle shifters, the 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster provides clear vehicle information.

Intuitively positioned climate controls are easy to use without taking your eyes off the road. The infotainment system includes a 6.5-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, and 10-speaker audio with satellite radio.

The 3.0 Premium has full leather upholstery with heated seats, while the Launch Edition is available with red leather. These models also add a full-color head-up display, an 8.8-inch touch screen with navigation, Apple CarPlay, voice recognition, wireless charging, and a 500-watt JBL 12-speaker sound system.

  1. Driver-Assistance Features

Many driver-assistance features are standard, including vehicle stability control, traction control, ABS with brake assist, cruise control, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assistance, hill start assist, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and rain-sensing wipers. The Driver Assist Package adds full-speed dynamic radar cruise control, a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and parking sensors with emergency braking.
