There are a few differences to consider when making your decision. Of course, the 2019 Camry and 2019 Camry Hybrid work a bit different in how they create energy to power the vehicle, but there are some other differences to keep in mind.

Trim Levels

One of the first differences you’ll see between the 2019 Camry and 2019 Camry Hybrid is the number of trim levels available. The standard Camry has seven trims to choose from, while the Camry Hybrid only has three trim options. In this case, the standard Camry offers a big advantage for the buyer when comparing it to the hybrid version. As you work your way up the trim levels, extra features are added. These extra benefits also come with a marginally higher price.

Since the standard Camry has more than two times the trim options as the Camry Hybrid, key features are added more gradually. This slower feature progression allows the buyer to purchase the trim with the features they want without paying for ones they don’t. However, if you don’t mind having a few extra features, opting for a smaller set of trim options can leave you with extra features that you may enjoy.

Standard Features

Trim levels aside, the base features of the new Camry and Camry Hybrid are fairly robust. Here is what you get with each base trim level.

The exterior features on both Camry’s base trims are similar and include a colored grille, power door mirrors, and body-colored door handles. In regards to connectivity, the Standard Camry has a Wi-Fi Connect system. The Hybrid model has the Entune 3.0 device integration system. Both models include voice-activated radio and speed sensitive volume.

Performance Comparison

Another key factor when choosing between the 2019 Camry and Camry Hybrid is the performance features. The Hybrid model has one engine configuration, while the standard Camry offers three.

When looking at the standard Camry, the base trim level features a 203-horsepower four-cylinder engine. The XSE trim is the only trim with a slightly upgraded 206-horsepower engine. The XLE and XSE trim levels on the Camry feature a more powerful V-6 engine with an output of 301 horsepower. The Hybrid model features a 176-horsepower four-cylinder engine across all trim levels.

While the standard Camry model certainly offers a more sporty performance, the Hybrid model comes with much better fuel efficiency. The Standard trim gets an EPA-estimated mileage of 22 to 41 mpg while the 2019 Camry Hybrid earns an impressive 44 to 53 mpg. Most of this benefit is earned during city driving, but there’s still a 12 mpg advantage for the Hybrid on the highway.

Choosing the right 2019 Camry for you will come down to a few things. Exterior and interior features are important, but one of the biggest factors will be the performance. Drivers looking for more power and speed will benefit from the V-6, while commuters will love the efficiency of the Hybrid.
