The beach isn’t necessarily a place where fun activities only happen in the summertime. Of course, warm weather opens the door for all sorts of fun activities, but proximity to the beach brings many benefits, such as gorgeous views or simply being a place where you can find peace and serenity. Luckily for those living in and around West Islip, New York, they have a few amazing beaches to choose from.

  1. West Islip Beach and Marina

Tucked behind the Good Samaritan Hospital, this tiny beach is a great place to spend a quiet afternoon. It’s almost never crowded, so if you ever wondered what it feels like to have your own private beach, this may be your chance. There’s a nice playground for the kids, while you can sit on one of their wooden chairs and read a book or venture into the water if the weather is right.

Just because it’s quiet and secluded doesn’t mean you won’t find action nearby. The West Islip Marina is right next to the beach, overlooking the Great South Bay. There you can find a waterfront outdoor restaurant where you can enjoy the view while having a delicious meal. If you’re a boat lover, the dock is the perfect place to start and end your ocean journeys.

  1. Robert Moses State Park

With a shoreline of almost five miles and about 3.8 million visitors each year, this beach is one of the most popular in Long Island. It’s a perfect place for those who love swimming and water sports, with many fun options around and constant monitoring by the local lifeguards.

This being a park, there are plenty more things to do other than relaxing in the sun or taking a swim. A full, 18-hole public golf course is open from early April through November, while there are also huge spaces dedicated to picnics or playing sports. If you’re a fishing lover you can fish off the long piers or use the park’s boat basin to dock your personal boat. Overall, no matter what you and your family’s beach-related hobbies are, you’re guaranteed to have an awesome day.

  1. Tobay Beach

If you’re looking for a more exclusive local beach, you should look no further than Tobay Beach. The name is an anagram for “Town of Oyster Bay”, the municipality that owns and manages the beach and this entire strip of land. Due to the fact that open access is only for local residents and non-residents are only allowed on weekdays, overcrowding is never an issue. Access to water is easy and both lovers of water sports and fishing are more than welcome here. There’s also a great seafood restaurant in the area.

Living next to a beach is a blessing many people only dream of. Residents of Islip, like the rest of people in Long Island, are indeed blessed with a multitude of gorgeous beaches from which they can choose from when looking to relax. So get your friends or family and get down to any of these amazing beaches.
