On Long Island, New York, there are plenty of wineries to visit, and each place specializes in its own twist. Here are five of the best wineries on Long Island to check out.

Loughlin Vineyard

Loughlin Vineyard is located at 299 County Road 65 in Sayville. Most people find Loughlin Vineyard after looking for a great winery all the way east. It’s a hidden gem located down a secluded road. The vineyard is open all year on the weekends from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The winery welcomes you to bring along a picnic to enjoy in the vineyard while you taste the wines. Loughlin Vineyard is known for offering an excellent chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, pinky rose, Merlot, and South Bay Breeze.

Harmony Vineyards

Located at 169 Harbor Road in the Head of the Harbor, Harmony Vineyards produces some of the best local wines and food menus around. It hosts public events — including brunch and live music weekly — as well as private events on the vineyard. Children are not allowed to attend any event after dusk, though it is a dog-friendly venue. The hours vary depending on the event. Try the Gourmet Charcuterie Platter or the Turkey Waldorf Wrap if you have the chance.

Roanoke Vineyards

Roanoke Vineyards is located at 3543 Sound Ave. in Riverhead. It’s one of the more popular wineries located in North Folk, and a membership is required for admission. The membership is free for the wine club, though you’ll be agreeing to purchase up to 12 bottles of wine each year. The membership entitles you to attend special events, go kayaking in the vineyard’s canoe club, and pick grapes to make your own wine. It is open daily starting at 11 a.m.

Wolffer Estate Vineyard

In Sagaponack, just off Sagg Road, you’ll find Wolffer Estate Vineyard in the South Fork. It is a vineyard for high end, distinctive wines and ciders for those who love premium wines. Wolffer Estate Vineyard is open all year from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., though it may sometimes be closed to the public due to private events being hosted at the venue.

Sherwood House Vineyards

Sherwood House Vineyards is located at 1291 Main Road in Jamesport. It features a warm and cozy environment, friendly staff, and a relaxing fireplace. It is open year-round from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 8 p.m. on Fridays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Some of the popular wines include a white merlot, estate cabernet franc, and an exclusive Sherwood Manor.
