The Toyota 4Runner has been a favorite for SUV buyers for over 30 years because of its people hauling ability, strong towing capacity, and superb off-road capability. While the 2020 Toyota 4Runner has added driver assistance features and a new infotainment system, the car is still the tried and tested vehicle that people adore. Here are six of the most loved features.

  1. Trim Levels

With a choice of no less than eight trim levels and a variety of options, you can configure your 4Runner with the features you want and need. It’s offered in SR5, SR5 Premium, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, Venture Special Edition, Limited, and Nightshade Edition trim levels, along with the rugged off-road specialist TRD Pro. Each model has its own unique styling cues that set it apart.

  1. Exterior Style

The 4Runner sits tall, giving the passengers a great view, and it features the quirky Toyota fascia and streamlined profile that give it head-turning road presence. Standard features include projector-beam headlights, integrated fog lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, heated power mirrors, rear privacy glass, a rear spoiler, and protective skid plates.

TRD Pro gets a unique grille, TRD skid plates and badging, matte black wheels with all-terrain tires, front and rear mudguards, LED fog lamps, and a roof basket. The luxurious Limited and Nightshade trims offer 20-inch six-spoke wheels, touch sensor door handles, mirrors with turn signals, and roof rails.

  1. Interior Utility

Designed for adventure, the 4Runner doesn’t fall short on space. Depending on the model, it seats up to seven people in comfort with the available third-row seating. Two-row models have 47.2 cubic feet of cargo space with the second row in place, and 89.7 cubic feet with the seats folded flat. An available sliding cargo deck provides simple loading access, while the standard power sliding rear window makes it easy to grab your gear. Four 12-volt power points and a 120-volt power outlet provide power and charging facilities.

  1. Drivetrain

Power is provided by a 4.0-liter V-6 engine generating 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque via a five-speed automatic transmission. SR5, SR5 Premium, Limited, and Nightshade trims have the option of rear- or all-wheel drive, while the other models are exclusively AWD and, with multi-terrain select and crawl control, will take you anywhere you want to go. The 4Runner has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds.

  1. Infotainment System

For connectivity, the infotainment system now features smartphone integration, Amazon Alexa compatibility, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Bluetooth, voice recognition, two USB ports, an 8-inch touch screen, and eight-speaker audio. Premium models add navigation and HD radio, while Limited trim features a JBL 15-speaker sound system.

  1. Driver Assist Features

Standard safety features now include adaptive cruise control, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with sway warning, rear camera with projected path, automatic high beams, vehicle stability control, traction control, and ABS with electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist and smart stop technology. The SR5 Premium trim adds an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
