Or if you’re ready to purchase a Tacoma but are unsure of the trims and options available, this buyers guide will help you choose the Toyota Tacoma that’s right for you.

Standard Safety Features

The Tacoma is equipped with several standard safety features and includes additional safety features as an add-on. Features like adaptive cruise control, emergency braking assist, collision detection warnings, lane departure warnings, and automatic high-beams are standard on all 2018 Tacoma Options. Some other wonderful safety and emergency features include all-around airbags and a full-size spare tire certified for full use.

If you’re looking for additional safety features on the Tacoma, there are several available that don’t come standard. Blind spot monitoring and rear parking monitors are two options you can add with a vehicle upgrade.

Entertainment Options

The center console on the 2018 Toyota Tacoma is equipped with some standard entertainment features. Several hands-free voice options allow for Bluetooth phone calls and audio control. There are also AUX and USB ports for listening to music and charging devices. The 2018 Toyota Tacoma also has optional add-ons, including live weather, traffic updates, and navigation features. Two 12-volt outlets come standard with the 2018 Tacoma. One is in the front console area, and one is in the rear passenger area.

Utility and Performance

This smaller pickup falls in the middle of the pack when it comes to power, fuel economy, and towing capacity. It should be noted that no changes to these areas were made from the 2017 and 2018 models. The Tacoma has options for both automatic and manual transmissions. You may also choose between rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive.

If you opt for the towing package, you can haul between 6,500 and 6,800 pounds maximum, depending on how your vehicle is configured. Standard options without this package allow the Tacoma to pull roughly 3,500 pounds max.

2018 Toyota Tacoma Trim Levels

There are six trims available for the 2018 Toyota Tacoma. The SR trim stands as the base model and includes the Bluetooth tech features listed above as well as an LCD odometer. The SR trim is only equipped with a 158 horsepower 4-cylinder engine. The SR5 trim, however, includes a six-cylinder engine with 278 horsepower. This is 92 percent more horsepower than the SR.

The TRD Sport features the same specs as the SR5 but adds wireless phone charging capabilities. The Tacoma TRD with the off-roading package comes with several features, such as terrain selection and crawl control. These models also come equipped with better shocks. The 2018 Toyota Tacoma Limited and Pro trims offer everything above but add an upgraded sound system, a power moonroof, and internal bypass shocks.
