Exterior Design
Although the majority of the changes made to the 2019 Toyota RAV4 are under the hood, the first thing that many drivers notice is the exterior design. The new RAV4 has a longer stance with a shorter front end. The smaller exterior design is important for increasing off-roading capabilities. The exterior side mirrors have also been moved, increasing driver visibility and the overall sleek design of the RAV4. This model will also come standard with 19-inch wheels.
Interior Design
The interior of the 2019 RAV4 will better meet driver expectations in terms of comfort and aesthetics. It will include all of the expected technological features, including smartphone sync ability via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, a touchscreen driver infotainment system, and hands-free task management abilities.
Additional technological features to look forward to include the Amazon Alexa voice assistant feature, an available Qi wireless charging pad, and an available rearview mirror camera system. The interior seating also saw an upgrade with Softex leather-wrapped seats and an available eight-way power adjustment.
Increased Power
The 2019 RAV4 will see an increase in power with an upgraded 2.5-liter engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Although no official horsepower numbers have yet been released, there has been speculation that the upgraded engine setup will lead to an increase of 15 percent to overall horsepower. There will be nine trim options available, including the XSE Hybrid. This sporty hybrid will not only be more efficient but will also be the fastest RAV4 in the 2019 lineup.
Comfortable Drive
Increased power does not always translate to a more comfortable drive. However, it does with the 2019 Toyota RAV4. Although the engine and other mechanical parts are a bit larger, they are designed in a way that actually leads to a lower weight. The 2019 RAV4 took on all new mechanical parts, technological features, and exterior designs, and yet, it still managed to drop 4 percent in weight from previous models.
The improved all-wheel-drive system also leads to a smoother and more refined drive. With an advanced dynamic torque vectoring system and the ability to swap between drive modes, drivers of the 2019 RAV4 can handle any road condition, effortlessly. The sportier suspension system will improve acceleration ability and overall drive comfort.
Safety
Toyota continues to set the standard for safety on the roads. The 2019 RAV4 will come standard with the forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and an automatic emergency braking system. An optional safety upgrade is the rear cross traffic alert with the automatic braking feature.
