Do you ever get a craving for some great cannoli? We can certainly understand the draw, as we’re also fans of the delicious Italian pastries. Fortunately, there are some great restaurants in West Islip, New York, and the surrounding areas where you can go for incredible cannoli, as well as other dessert options if you’re in the mood to branch out. Here are our top three suggestions for the best places for cannoli in West Islip.

Marzullo’s Bakery and Cafe in New Hyde Park

At Marzullo’s Bakery and Cafe, you’ll find some classic cannoli to indulge in. The owner came to New York from a small town near Palermo, Italy, and his father owned his own bakery before him. The secret to Marzullo’s cannoli is to use sheep’s milk ricotta imported directly from Sicily, rather than using cow’s milk ricotta. On one end of the cannoli, you’ll find chocolate chips and on the other side a dried cherry. These cannoli are so popular that on an average weekday he sells 150 of his fresh cannoli. If you’re really hungry when you visit, order a jumbo. This enormous cannoli holds 50 mini cannoli inside.

Alpine Pastry Shoppe in Smithtown

The Alpine Pastry Shoppe has a variety of incredible desserts, from cakes, cupcakes, and cake pops to pastries and cookies. However, the pastry shop’s cannoli outsell all other items on the menu, and the owner estimates that they sell at least 2,000 of the cream-filled pastries every week. The shop primarily sells only old-fashioned cannoli with bittersweet chocolate chips. If you arrive with a group or you’re feeling especially hungry, you could go for one of the oversized cannoli, which are filled with two dozen mini ones. They do offer some other more updated versions of the cannoli as well, such as ones with a chocolate-chipped shell.

A&G Bakery

The A&G Bakery offers baked goods of all kinds, from delicious cakes to traditional Italian cookies. Since 1991, this bakery has been a go-to spot for American, Italian, French, and kosher baked goods. The family-owned and operated restaurant still follows the same family recipes that it used to build a strong reputation in the area. When you walk in the bakery, prepare to be overwhelmed by the large assortment of baked goods, but feel confident knowing you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

You can never go wrong with the bakery’s small cannoli. If you’re in the mood for something else, grab some of their Napoleons, cream puffs, or even an almond cookie. If you want to branch out further, try a piece of the cheesecake, one of the rainbow cookies, the eclairs, or a few of the lobster tails. The macaroons are also fresh and a great option if you want to take some dessert to go.

These are just a few of the incredible bakeries and pastry shops you may want to consider during your visit to West Islip. We hope you get the opportunity to enjoy these as well as others during your stay in our area.
